Tips to be Eco-Friendly

Posted on June 10, 2022January 6, 2023
  • Shop local
  • Avoid single-use decorations, like balloons or confetti. (If you like the look of confetti, hole-punch dead leaves or flowers and use that!)
  • Rent decor or check resell sites (like FB Marketplace) & thrift stores for decor, then resell, donate or gift what you won’t use after the wedding
  • Use locally and sustainably grown, in-season florals when possible, then compost when done
  • Choose a wedding favour that won’t end up in the trash
  • Choose glassware and reusable plates and cutlery over disposable ones, but if they have to be disposable, use a compostable option
  • Purchase alcohol in bulk to cut down on individual serving containers (kegs, boxed wine, etc.)
  • Avoid plastic water bottles and straws
  • Store leftover food in an appropriate time frame, so that it can be eaten later or donated
  • Have recycling and compost bins designated at the reception
  • Hire a shuttle
